2022 WORCS Round 8 Preston, ID

I was able to put my Polaris RZR RS1 on the box at WORCS round 7!

My team and I headed out on Thursday afternoon and began the 825-mile journey to Preston, ID.  We made it to Cedar City, UT and stopped to rest for the night.  We got up early Friday morning to continue on.  I arrived at the track Friday afternoon and got checked in at registration.  Then, I got ready for practice.  I ran a few practice laps and got a good feel for the track.  I was happy with the way my car was performing.  We went to dinner and then checked into the hotel for the night.

I headed to the track on Saturday morning to watch the races and help my RZR170 buddies.  Then, I washed my car, ran through tech, and did some final prep to prepare for my race on Sunday.  I spent most of the day at the track and then headed to the hotel to turn in for the night.

On Sunday, I got up and went to the track with my team.  My race was the last race of the day and my car was ready to go, so I watched the races and helped some of my friends until it was time to head to the start line.

There were six cars in the SXS Pro Stock class, and I lined up on row two.  The flag flew and row one took off!  I took a deep breath and got ready.  After one minute, the green flag flew for my row, and we took off!  I got a bad start and fell into P3.  During the first lap, I moved up physically one position and stayed on the gas.  After coming through the timing chute, I was running P4 on corrected time.  This race was unlike any other I have raced before.  We were literally running through a corn maze!  The track was rough, and about halfway through the 55-minute race, I lost my front diff.  Then, my power steering went out and so did my brakes.  I was determined and stayed focused, driving as fast and as hard as I could.  By lap 4, I had moved into P3 on corrected time.  I was able to keep it together and hold my position for the next two laps and crossed the finish line in 3rd place!  I was stoked to be on the box again!

We’ve got events coming up both this weekend and next.  I will attend the Sand Sports Super Show this weekend, and then I will volunteer at Warfighter Made Adrenaline Therapy next Saturday.  After that, we will race 5 weeks in a row, starting with round 2 of the Outlaw Series West in Taft, CA.  It’s going to be busy through October for my team and I, but I am looking forward to it!
