2022 WORCS Round 6 Cedar City, UT

Well, we finally got it right!  WORCS round 6 at Three Peaks Oasis in Cedar City, UT was the best!

My team and I began our 470-mile journey at 3:30 a.m. on Friday, arriving just in time to make practice that afternoon.  I ran a few laps and got a good feel for the track.  The car seemed to be running good and handled the course well.  After practice, we got our pit set-up, then locked up the car for the night and headed to the hotel.

We arrived at the track early on Saturday morning and I radioed for one of the RZR 170 racers.  Then I ran my car through tech and headed to my pit to do the final prep on my car.  I cleaned the clutches, checked the tire pressure, and topped off with fuel.  I was ready to race!

The SXS Pro Stock class was the last race of the day on Saturday and when it was time, I went to the line.  There were 7 cars in my class, and I was starting on row 2.  Row 1 took off, then 2 minutes later, the green flag flew and my row took off!  I was in P2 off of the line but was on the gas and P1’s bumper.  Halfway through lap 1, I was able to make the pass and took off racing through the twists and turns of the winding track.  As I came through the timing chute heading into lap 2, I had taken over the lead on time and was running 7 seconds ahead (although I didn’t know it!).  I continued to race as fast as I could, keeping good pace, and every lap I picked up a few more seconds, increasing my lead.  My car ran flawless and had no issues the entire 55-minute race.  After 6 long laps, I crossed the finish line in 1st place by 48 seconds!

My team and I have been working so incredibly hard these last few months, and all the hard work finally paid off.  I am so grateful to my parents, Pete at Got Sand Performance, Bryan at Carr One Fabrication, and Chris at Benchmark Performance for all of their help and support in getting my car dialed in and running right!

WORCS takes the summer off, but we’re getting my car prepped and ready to go for the San Diego Grand Prix presented by the Dirt Series on June 19th.  It should be a great time and I am looking forward to it!
